Does the combustion of methane gas at the landfill’s flares release any harmful by-products into the air?

Exhaust gases from an enclosed landfill flare are primarily carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxides, the same compounds found in automobile and truck emissions. Such a flare can emit an extremely low amount of un-combusted non-methane organic compounds, but not enough to significantly increase background concentrations in the environment.
