FAQs
Are there any legally hazardous chemicals being disposed of at the landfill? If so, what are they?
Pennsylvania does not have any disposal sites authorized to receive non-household hazardous waste. All waste of this type is shipped out of state. Conestoga inspects and conducts periodic tests of incoming loads to make sure no hazardous waste comes in from industrial customers. DEP permits Conestoga and other municipal waste landfills to accept limited quantities of household hazardous wastes such as solvents, disinfectants, rug, oven and drain cleaners, button batteries, floor and furniture products, and other similar products.
